This was the Lake Sunapee summer home of John M. Hay, statesman, author and private secretary to President Lincoln. The house is not furnished, but the extensive grounds are beautiful with nature trails, formal gardens and delightful views of Lake Sunapee. Guided tours are offered on weekends from late May through October. The grounds are open all year from dawn to dusk. Admission is free. There’s a half-mile mile walk from the parking lot to the estate, with handicapped parking available.
