Bill Binnie, 51, has built a number of successful companies and has created thousands of jobs throughout his career. Establishing himself as a real problem-solver in the business community, Bill’s group of companies is one of the larger employers on the Seacoast of New Hampshire. He understands economic challenges and knows common sense conservative solutions to fix them.

Today, Bill is the President of Carlisle Capital Corporation in Portsmouth, NH.  Bill has been involved in a wide range of businesses from high tech to manufacturing, small companies as well as large global enterprises. Bill has the background and experience New Hampshire and our nation needs in these difficult times.

Bill is a family man who lives with his wife and 4 great children in Rye and is active in community activities.  He is an avid outdoorsman who hunts, hikes and races cars.  In fact, Bill is a champion driver having won his class at the 24 Hours of LeMans twice.

Bill is the proud son of immigrants who struggled to make a living here in America and instilled in him a deep love and pride of America.

Early Years
His father supported their family as a janitor and his Mom worked too, together they taught Bill and his two brothers the meaning of hard work and commitment to family.  His family immigrated to America when Bill was 5 years old from Scotland. Using his hands came naturally to Bill and by the age of 11 he could usually be found tinkering on an engine. Working on cars and engines would become a lifelong passion.

“From an early age, Bill was always the hardest worker around.  It didn’t matter what it was, he could fix it. He was a good athlete and smart and we are so proud of how he turned out.”
- Bill Binnie, Senior

School & College Life
Bill was a naturally bright student, but like everything else, always worked hard at it.  Bill also excelled in athletics, playing varsity soccer in high school and college.  After high school, Bill attended Harvard University on a scholarship, but paid his room and board by working on cars as a mechanic. Bill also managed to serve as a research fellow for the Accounting Review, a well known technical journal about finance and accounting.

Upon graduation from Harvard College, Bill continued at Harvard Business School.  He became the president of one of the largest student organizations on campus, the Management Consulting Club, and spent his summer working at the prestigious McKinsey & Co.

Business Career
Bill has founded and started a number of small and large businesses creating thousands of jobs.  By 1992, Forbes Magazine called him “energetic and bright” and a “whirlwind of a manager”.  He built Carlisle Plastics into an industry-leading company employing thousands of workers around the globe.

Carlisle Plastics was voted one of Wal-Mart’s “Vendor’s of the Year” and Bill was one of the youngest CEO’s on the New York Stock Exchange at the age of 32.

Bill built a reputation as a proven problem solver and business leader and was asked to join boards and work in a number of fields including medical technologies, consumer products and real estate.

“He got involved in the most challenging and difficult companies. It wasn’t always easy for Bill and the situations were often complex and difficult.  But amazingly he would almost always find a way to fix the company or turn it around or get it growing again.  I saw him do it again and again.  He just won’t quit. He’s so tenacious.”
- Chris McKenna, CFO of Carlisle Capital

Family Life
Married for 21 years to his wife Nina they have four children.  Heather, Adam, Dylan and Colin.  The family spends their time playing sports, hiking, kayaking, fishing, skiing and going to the movies.

“Bill has always put our family first.  I have seen him fly all night to make a game or a parent/teacher conference.  It’s who he is and how he was raised.  When his brother died in a car crash, Bill stepped in to help raise his brother’s kids and run their family business. That was 4 years ago and he is still running the company for Tom’s kids-he just gets up every morning really early to do it before his regular job. The commitment of time was extraordinary and he didn’t hesitate, he just did it. That’s just our Bill.  He’s got two great loves in his life—- his family and his old cars.”
- Nina Binnie

Community Activity
A product of the American Dream, Bill has always made it a point to give back to his community whenever possible.  When Bill’s best friend died of a brain aneurysm tragically at the age of 41, Bill helped start a school named after him called the George Jackson School.

“Bill believes in education and in giving people a chance—like when Bill help start The George Jackson School for inner city kids, he loved his friend and it was devastating to lose George—- he was like a brother to Bill.  It was a labor of love to help build that school.  But that is classic Bill, he jumps in and gets it done and lets everyone else take the credit.  I have seen him get involved in starting things, lots of things, but the guy has humility. Bill’s number one goal is to see other people succeed.”
- Jon Ledecky, fellow founder and director of the George Jackson School.

Outside Interests
An avid outdoorsman and sportsman since his youth, Bill enjoys hunting, hiking, golfing, skiing, and competitive car racing. Thanks to his competitive drive, Bill has won lots of races and championships on some of the most challenging race tracks in the world. He was a LeMans Champion twice in 2004 and 2007 at the age of 49.

“Bill was the go-to guy.  The guy we would turn to in the toughest situations.  If it was raining or at night, Bill stepped forward and put on his helmet.  He always took the most dangerous stints in the race and always worked the hardest we all loved him on the team for that.”
- Dave Schuppert, race fueler and pit crew member.

Responsibilities for the Future
Today, America needs citizens like Bill Binnie who know how to make sound business decisions. After years of leadership in the private sector, Bill could no longer sit by and watch bureaucrats and politicians destroy our America. In the midst of our economic crisis, Bill Binnie represents fresh ideas and a proven record of fiscal responsibility for New Hampshire’s future.

“Bill is a true fiscally conservative Republican businessman.  He has built a bunch of companies and created thousands of jobs.  He is a common-sense problem solver who knows what it takes to meet a payroll.  New Hampshire needs a voice in Washington that will stand up against big government waste and higher taxes.  They want a proven businessman who will keep the federal government living within its means.”
- John Lyons, a Republican leader in NH
